ICD coding is International Classification of Diseases. This system gives a numeric or alpha-numeric “code” to all diseases or injuries. The current system used for diagnosis coding in the in the United States is the International Classification of Diseases 9th Revision which was adopted in 1979. This version is becoming obsolete as it is does not meet the current and future demands of health care data needs. Therefore there will be a change to adopt and use ICD-10. However this 10th revision is not scheduled for use until October 1, 2015.

HJ Ross Digital Coding contains chiropractic specific neuromusculoskeletal diagnosis that can be searched by body region, key word or diagnosis code. Each code is mapped with both ICD9 and ICD10 classifications. Keep in mind there are often 3-10 codes in ICD10 for one code in ICD9 due the increased specificity of the ICD10 revision. The coding can be searched by body region, keyword or diagnosis code allowing easier and more specific navigation to find a code or condition.

Expert Tip: As an added benefit, in the Document Library there are also specific insurance company guidelines which contain diagnosis specifics for chiropractic reimbursement according to each insurance carrier.
