Does acupuncture help veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)?

PTSD is a reality among veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces.

A new study suggests acupuncture can positively influence PTSD psychobiology and symptomatology.

The study assigned veterans ages 18 to 55 to receive acupuncture or sham for 15 weeks ( 24 total sessions).

The study showed a significant reduction in fear-potentiated startle in the acupuncture group, but not in the sham group.

The study concluded, “Acupuncture intervention used in this study was clinically efficacious and favorably affected the psychobiology of PTSD in combat veterans.”

Healthcare continues evolving to less-invasive, natural, and drug-free methods, placing acupuncture as a first-line complementary healthcare choice.

And remember, the American Acupuncture Council Network is the expert with over 3 decades of experience dealing with a wide range of acupuncture billing issues.
