Medicare 2023 fees are now final. Rates that were published in December were rescinded, as is not unusual based on congressional budget issues. The good news the original reduction in rates was averted and fees are essentially flat with slight increases or decrease depending on your region. Note also many plans use Medicare rates as a base and will use conversions of Medicare and Relative Value Units to set their rates. Whether you are billing Medicare or not it is a good source of understanding rates and usual and customary fees. For example, the VA uses Medicare rates for community care claims, and many states’ workers’ compensation and person injury fee schedules are based on % of Medicare fees which range from 110% to 200% of Medicare fees
