Are acupuncturist affected by the federal vaccine mandates for healthcare workers?
As per the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS):
“The staff vaccination requirements apply to Medicare and Medicaid-certified provider and supplier types (collectively, “facilities”) that are regulated under the Medicare health and safety standards known as Conditions of Participation (CoPs), Conditions for Coverage (CfCs), or Requirements.”
Under this definition, the federal mandate does not include acupuncturists.
Special Note: Some states do have mandates that may require vaccination or testing (i.e., Illinois has a mandate that healthcare workers must be vaccinated or tested weekly and the state of Washington has a mandate similar).
