CMS announced on November 12, 2021, that the 2022 deductible for Medicare Part B will be $233. This represents a $30 increase from the 2021 deductible. CMS does cover acupuncture for chronic low back pain and it may be delivered by an LAc however, it must be under the direct supervision of a medical provider and billed out by this medical provider. The acupuncture provider may act as an independent contractor or an employee.

The current fee schedule published has about a 7% increase for acupuncture codes from the 2021 rates as of now. Bear in mind the fees may update before the new year are subject to change. Members of the AAC Insurance Information Network are welcome to reach out to Sam for the 2022 fees. Note the fees for Medicare are used for VA claims as well.
